On this journey we met along the way. It is during this encounter you expressed interest in the Star School Initiative. I am reaching out to you to let you know what we are planning for 2021 camp. Our camp theme this year is “The Journey to Becoming”.
During the month of July, for the last four years, we have hosted a camp for African-American males, ages 11-16. This year we will be expanding our camp time to include the months of May, June, and July. We meet Mondays-Thursdays from 8:45 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Currently, we have a few open slots. If you know of young males who would like to attend the camp please share the attached application as well as my contact information with their parent or guardian.
The cost is $75/month. For students who live within the city limits of Savannah we are offering scholarships. The participants will have to bring their lunch daily and transportation to the camp is the responsibility of the family.
Additionally, we are looking for individuals who would like an opportunity to address the group. Presentations may include hands on activities, virtual field trip or in person field trips. The presentations can be the entire day or any portion of the day. If you are interested please let me know.
Also, if you would like to volunteer/and or donate snack items (water, Gatorade, fruit, chips, crackers, cookies, doughnuts, pizza, etc.), please let me know that as well. All donations can be dropped off at 4815 LaRoche Avenue (Across from Savannah State University’s University Commons apartments)
